Heating/cooling

The property is equipped with a central heating system. By default, during the autumn and winter season, the heating is set to 21° from 7am to 10pm. Would you like to adjust the temperature? Then you can do so on the display in the living room.
In addition the house is equiped with air-conditioning in the attic, the first-floor bedroom and the living room. This can be used in summer to cool the house. Please leave the remote control of each air-conditioning unit in its holder. To warm up the house, it is best to use the central heating system.

Please keep windows and doors closed when the heating or air conditioning is on otherwise a lot of energy is lost.

Waste
Guests will be provided with 2 rubbish bags. You can find these outside in the garden closet.
-The blue rubbish bag is for plastic packaging, drink cartons and metal packaging.
-The gold coloured rubbish bag is for residual waste.
-Carton and paper may be collected separately in the assigned box in the garden closet. The landlord will ensure this goes along with the monthly paper collection.
-A glass container for glass bottles is located within walking distance of the rental property. Location: corner of Geerdegemvaart/Brusselsesteenweg

Sheets/Pillows
If needed, there are extra duvets in the closet of the attic room and the walk-through room on the 1st floor.

Parking
In the surrounding streets, you have to use a blue parking card. There is a parking card available in the house that you can use. The card is required from Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm. For long-term parking, we recommend you park your car in the large Arenal/Burneys car park. This car park is free and is a 20-minute walk from the holiday home.  Location: Kruisbaan 50
Paying parking is available at the NMBS train station in Mechelen. This car park is a 20-minute walk from the holiday home.

You can also park your car in the Brusselsesteenweg between house numbers 170 and 280, where you do not need the blue parking card and do not have to pay. It is a five-minute walk from the house.

If you have a small car, it is also possible to park in our garage box, a 3 minute walk from the house. Allowed height is 178cm, maximum car length is 470cm. If you want to use this garage send a message to +32 478 585226. We will then provide you with the key. The entrance to the site is directly opposite the Spar parking lot. This garage can also be used to store bicycles. There are safety rings fixed in the ground to which you can secure your bike. Attention! This garage is not monitored. Parking or storing bicycles is at your own risk.

BBQ
A gas-powered barbecue is provided. A spare gas bottle is located in the garden shed. Under no circumstances an open fire with other burning materials such as wood or charcoal is allowed.
You should use this gas bbq according to the rules of art. If you do not know how to handle the bbq, please contact us. After use, close the gas bottle and make sure the bbq has been cleaned. In case of emergency, there is a fire extinguisher and fire blanket inside the kitchen.
Never place the bbq under the awning.

Infrared  sauna
Power button 
The on/off button has a chld lock. Keep your finger on the on/off button for about 5 seconds. You hear a beep and the cabin will start. The light button has to be switched on and off manually.

Temperature 
The top display indicates the temperature. Ideally you heat up untill 60° to 65°. Use +/– to adjust the temperature. It takes 10 minutes to heat the cabin.

Time
Default the timer is set on maximum 60 minutes. After that the cabin switches off automatically. Never stay more then 25 minutes non stop in the cabin.

Lock button
This button is an additional child lock. Hold your finger for 8 seconds on the button the lock or unlock the panel.

Bluetooth
Press the ‘audio’ button and choose ‘BLU’ to connect the cabin with your phone.

Safety
*  Do not put towels on the heating elements
* Never pour water on the heaters, this can cause an electric shock
* Do not touch the heaters with your fingers or any other subject
* Do not use the cabin after drinking alcohol or taking medication
* Do not use the cabin when having open wounds, eye or skin disease
* Do not use the infrared sauna for longer than 40 minutes in total per session
* If you are pregnant, do not use the cabin
* Persons in poor health, having implants or persons taking medications, should first consult their doctor for approval to use the cabin

Tips
* The radiaton your body absorbs determines the succes of the infrared sauna not the heath inside the cabin. If to hot, open the roof top ventilation or open the door for a moment.
* Always drink enough water before, during and after the use of the sauna.
* For hygiene reasons, always cover the seat cushion and the floor of the cabin with a towel.
* Do not use body lotions or other oils before entering the cabin. This clogs your skin pores and damages the cabin.
* Do not use the cabin straight after a meal.

                                                                                                                           

Noise
Disturbing noises (e.g. walking around in stiletto heels; shouting in the house, at the front door or on the terrace; loud music or TV; machines working late in the evening or at night; visitors) should be kept to a minimum. Each guest must respect the neighbours' sleep between 10pm and 7am, in accordance with the Police Regulation of the City of Mechelen. I.e. no noise or loud conversations are allowed on the terrace after 10pm either. Thank you for taking this into account. We like to keep our neighbours happy.

Smoking
Smoking is not allowed inside.  Smoking is allowed outside on the terrace. Please extinguish cigarette butts completely before putting them in the bin.

Fire safety
Each guest is jointly responsible for the fire safety of the holiday home. The storage of any flammable, dangerous, unhealthy or nuisance material is strictly prohibited. In particular, it is forbidden to store propane or butane gas in the holiday home.

There are 4 fire extinguishers in the holiday home.
-1 fire extinguisher on the ground floor
-1 fire extinguisher on the first floor
-1 fire extinguisher on the second floor
-1 fire extinguisher in the basement

There is 1 fire blanket in the house on the ground floor in the kitchen.  Emergency lighting is provided on the ground floor at the entrance/exit and on the first and second floors at the stairs.

Kitchen
The kitchen is comfortably equipped for cooking and eating. If you do find that something is lacking, please give us a call.

Amenities nearby:
Just around the corner on Brusselssteenweg you can find the supermarket Spar, 2 minutes' walk away.
In the other direction on the Brusselpoort you can find a small Carrefour supermarket, a 4 minute' walk.
A few minutes on foot you can find Nihao, a Chinese takeaway restaurant and friterie Plaisance.
Also just around the corner, a 1-minute walk away, is Walravens bakery.

Upon departure:

At the end of your stay, we ask that:
-the refrigerator and freezer are empty and clean
-the dishwasher is empty
-the house is clean. No need to mop the floors. We will do that. 
-used sheets, covers and pillowcases may be left together in the bathroom. The mattress and pillow protectors should not be removed.
-the toilet is clean
-the bathroom is clean

The final cleaning will be done by the landlord and is included in the rental price.
